Meet the Crew: Alek

Meet the crew! We’ve been expanding a lot over the past couple of months and wanted to take some time to introduce ourselves again. 

Meet Alek, our new program coordinator! He's a Richmond native who has experience in many realms of outdoor adventure. Alek has been skiing for over a decade as well as climbing and kayaking for many years. He is passionate about our mission here at Beyond Boundaries and aspires to help diversify outdoor space and allow more access for all persons for outdoor adventure!⁠

1. What do you go by? Alek.

2. What are your pronouns? He/Him.

3. How old are you? 26 years young!

4. Where did you go to college? George Mason and Colorado Mountain College. 

5. Where did you grow up?  Mechanicsville, Va.

6. Favorite outdoor activity? Whitewater Kayaking, Skiing, Climbing.

7. What's your guilty pleasure? 90's Sitcoms.

8. Favorite type of BB trip? I love them all!

9. Favorite band? Kendrick Lamar, Jid, Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers.

10. Favorite food? Anything Mexican (Burritos) .

11. How did you get involved with BB? Began volunteering (mostly with climbing) a few years ago. 

12. Why does BB's mission resonate with you? Adventure is for everyone- Want everyone to have the ability to experience outdoor adventure- regardless of their personal situation. 

13. Fun fact about yourself? Love to learn (science, history, adventure skills, etc.) 

14. What does adventure mean to you? Exploring and finding yourself in uncomfortable situations- persevering through and enjoying the fruits of the journey. 

15. Favorite animal? Diamond (my pitbull).

16. Favorite place you've traveled to? Vedauwoo, Wyoming & New River Gorge.
