Feeling Grateful: Beyond Boundaries Recognized Twice in December

As the year ends, we’re proud to announce that two of our partners recently recognized the Beyond Boundaries team as part of their year-end recognitions. Community is a key pillar of our ACE (Access, Community, Empowerment) values, and these recognitions from our community partners are evidence of our continued work to build community relationships to build more substantial access points for our participants within the community.

In December of 2024, as part of their yearly wrap-up, our Executive Director Shep was recognized by Style Weekly as one of their 40 under 40! Style’s 40 under 40 recognizes some of the best of RVA, a group of incredible individuals working hard to make Richmond what it is.

"Being able to wake up each day and be stoked to work with the community the way we do is pretty awesome. Thanks, Style, for the love and support," says Shep!

We also attended our friend Sportable’s Holiday party and were thrilled to learn that our adaptive climbing program was named “Program of the Year.” We are so proud of the work that Katie, the director of programming, does on this program. Year after year, she pours blood, sweat, and countless hours into building a fantastic climbing community, learning new adaptive rope systems, and maintaining an incredible relationship with partners like Peak Experiences and Sportable to offer one of the best adaptable climbing programs in the nation.

"The consistency and stoke for the Adaptive Climbing program is the reason I love it so much! The friendships that have blossomed and the goals that are achieved each week is why it is so special,” explains Katie.

Sportable’s year-end recognitions honor some of the best in the accessible sporting community. We’re truly honored to have been recognized, especially alongside some of our participants, like Jennifer Taylor, who was named Sportable’s Athlete of the Year!

"It is such an honor to win Sportable's 2024 Program of the Year! The community of that program is so kind, inclusive, and just all-around fun! It is truly a privilege to work with the athletes and volunteers from that program,” says Katie.

Seeing our team recognized for their work is both humbling and amazing. We know how much community support goes into making Beyond Boundaries what it is. We would like to thank Style Weekly, Sportable, and all of our community members for helping boost Beyond Boundaries and ensure Adventure is for Everyone!
