Volunteer Sign Ups: Galaxy and Causer
Calling all Beyond Boundaries volunteers! We have an important update about how to sign up for trips and track your volunteer hours.
Over the last year, we have migrated from our old volunteer management system to Galaxy and their app, Causer, to help make it easier for volunteers to sign up for events, trips, training, and more.
We’re now requiring all trip volunteers to register through Galaxy. We understand that this may take a little more work on your part, but it goes a long way to helping our team. Utilizing Galaxy for volunteer sign-ups allows the Beyond Boundaries team to:
Accurately track volunteer hours and provide appropriate recognition within our Adventure Guides program.
Send real-time updates in the case of event changes, cancellations, or venue changes.
Communicate more efficiently with volunteers.
Save time on volunteer recruitment and communication. Katie, George, and Alek spend a lot of time chatting with volunteers through many different platforms (text, email, phone call, etc); while they love doing it, they think these hours could be spent planning new opportunities and trips.
Gather data—this is huge! We use this data to apply for grants, funding, state and government programs, and more. Having an accurate reflection of our volunteers' commitment can really help us gain new funding and recognition.
Maintain compliance with state requirements. Because we work with individuals under 18, we’re required to utilize volunteers who have passed background checks. Using Galaxy helps us maintain this standard.
Moving forward, we would appreciate it if all volunteers could use Galaxy or Causer to register for events.
You can easily create a Galaxy profile in about 3 minutes right here, and once you’ve created your account, you can sign in and sign up for trips by downloading Causer from the app store.
